Questions about consent & release forms

Is an e-signature on an online form legally valid?

For most consent and release forms, yes: the US ESIGN Act, UK law and Australia’s Electronic Transactions Act all recognise electronic signatures. Some documents and some situations need more, so check anything high-stakes with a lawyer where you operate.

Can a parent sign for a child?

Yes. The photo release, model release and liability waiver ask whether the person is under 18 and, if so, ask for the parent or guardian’s name, relationship and signature. The field trip permission slip is always signed by a parent or guardian.

Does the person get a copy of what they signed?

They see a confirmation screen you write. On the Pro plan, forms that ask for their email can also send them a copy of their answers. On any plan you can export every response as CSV or Excel from your results.
