Building a form: question types and the editor

Text: short answer, long answer, email, phone, link, number and address. Choice: multiple choice, checkboxes, dropdown, picture choice and ranking. Scales: rating, NPS, slider, yes/no and matrix. Other: date, time, file upload and signature.

All of them are on the free plan. File uploads are capped at 10 MB per file on free and 5 GB per file on PulseFormCreator Pro.

Some blocks do one job that a general block does badly. The NPS block works out the score for you, as the NPS survey template shows. The address block validates each line. Yes/no is one tap on a phone.

Split a long form with page breaks. Each page gets its own screen and its own place in the progress bar.

The conversational layout shows one question at a time, whatever your page structure. Turn it on in the Design tab.

Endings are the screens people see when they finish. You can have several and send different people to different ones: a pass and a fail ending on a quiz, or a "book a call" ending for anyone who answered yes. An ending can also redirect to a URL.

The Design tab sets colours, fonts, background, your logo and a cover image. All of that is free.

Two design settings are on Pro. Custom CSS is for changes the theme editor cannot make. The link preview is the title, description and image people see when your link is pasted into Slack, LinkedIn or a message. Both are listed on the pricing page.

• Required answers. Mark a question required only if the response is useless to you without it.
• Save and continue later. Useful for anything over about ten questions.
• Close date or response limit. Set it before you share the link.
• Duplicate prevention. Stops the same person answering twice.
• Anonymous responses. Changes what is stored. See anonymous mode.

Version history keeps 7 days of edits on free, 30 days on Pro and 90 days on PulseFormCreator Business, so you can undo a bad edit.

A finished form is a faster first draft than a blank page.
