Privacy and anonymous mode

Anonymous mode is a setting on the form. With it on, we do not record the hashed IP address, the user agent or the device details of the person answering.

What the setting changes

Normally a response is stored with a hashed IP address, a user agent string and some coarse device details. Duplicate prevention and visit insights use them.

With anonymous mode on, none of that is written. We store the answers and no metadata. It is free on every plan. The anonymous survey maker page has more detail, and the employee engagement survey template and the course evaluation form template are two forms where it is usually switched on.

What it does not do

It cannot make an identifying question anonymous. If you ask for a name, an email address or a staff number, you will get one, and that response is no longer anonymous whatever the setting says.

It also turns off the features that need that metadata: duplicate prevention by device and some visit insights.

Telling respondents

Say so on the first screen, in one specific sentence: "This survey is anonymous. We don't record your name, your email address or your IP address." People answer more candidly when the wording tells them exactly what is and is not recorded.

Your data, and deleting it

You can delete a response, a form or your whole account at any time. On PulseFormCreator Business, retention rules delete responses for you on a schedule.

For what we store, who processes it and where, read the privacy policy, the security page and the AI data policy. To remove everything, see delete your data.
